My grandfather used to say “education is the one thing no one can take away from you.” Now, I know he wasn’t betting on my overthinking mind questioning the validity of that statement when you introduce things like crazy medical procedures, but at its heart, it is a true statement. Education can be gotten for free (thank heaven for libraries and the internet) and kept forever. IF! You keep your brain in good working order. Sure, part of that is out of our control, but do what you can. Seek to learn new things, challenge your own assumptions, read (doesn’t matter what–just read–even trashy romance novels are good for your vocabulary), and think about thinking.
